Visit by Connecticut College’s Passwater is Boon for NYC Age Group Polo
BROOKLYN, NY. In a positive opportunity for age group athletes contemplating a collegiate future, Jeff Passwater, who earlier this year joined Matt Anderson’s coaching staff at Connecticut College, will make a trip tonight to Long Island University’s pool to check out local New York City talent.

Host to the Sharks men’s and women’s DI water polo programs, LIU has emerged as a hub for the sport in NYC due to the continued rebound from COVID-19 of the Brooklyn Hustle age group program.
One of only three clubs in New York City—Asphalt Green, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, and Y Pro, in Brooklyn’s Sheepshead Bay are the other two—the Brooklyn club has spent the past two years fighting for pool time and traveling up and down the East Coast to keep its athletes engaged.

Passwater, who has an extensive polo resume, including coaching stops with Austin College, McKendree College, University of Pacific and as head coach for the Trinidad and Tobago teams at the 2019 UANA Pan Am Youth Championships, counts Brown’s Felix Mercado, Harvard’s Ted Minnis and Pacific’s James Graham—some of the country’s best polo minds—as friends and collaborators.

Passwater’s visit to LIU pool, where he’ll observe a practice overseen by Irakli Sanadze, Hustle lead coach, has direct implications for Camel polo. McCulloch MacPherson, the starting goalie for the Hustle 18U squad, has committed to play polo for CC next fall.
Given his extensive connections in the sport and his well-traveled resume, this summer Passwater will collaborate with Graham, Mercado, Minnis and other top coaches to present polo camps in California and Texas.
